SINGING THE BRAHMA SAMHITA (VIDEO)

Singing Brahma Samhita bhajan style in beautiful Manipur from Dina-Anukampana Das on Vimeo.

The above recording was made during the grand inauguration festival for Lord Nṛsiṁhadev's new temple in Iskcon Maṇipur. Lovely photos of the event can be seen at http://picasaweb.google.com/dinaanu/LordNrsimhadevSNewTemple1#slideshow and videos at http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=2B3DC861BDB86B64

The Brahma Samhita is the oldest prayer in the universe, having been spontaneusly composed and sung by Lord Brahma, the first-born within this universe, as His loving offering to Lord Krishna (Govinda) when Brahma first had His darshan (audience)! It was lost to antiquity, forgotten to mankind...

... until Lord Caitanya (1486 - 1534 A.D.) kindly revealed it to the world when He visited the Adi Keshava (Divya Desham) temple in Travancore, Kerala, South India. Within the sanctum sanctorum was a wooden box, in which the Lord discovered two masterpieces - the Sri Krishna Karṇāmṛta and this, Brahma Saṁhita. That great incident happened during Lord Caitanya's 6-year-long South-India preaching tour (approx. 1510-1516 A.D.)

The second and fourth verses of this prayer have been immortalized in George Harrison's lovely composition 'Govindam', which Srila Prabhupada instructed his followers 'must be played every day in all Hare Krishna temples' during the morning worship called 'Deity Greeting' (darśan ārati or śṛṅgāra āratī).

(The text of the Brahma Samhita in simplified format is available at for download on this webpage, in both book format and songsheet printable format.)

The Brahma Samhita in Simplified Romanized Sanskrit

- with Translations & Lord Krsna's Wonderful 5-Verse Response

[Verses 56-62]

[Most of us sing verses 29 to 56 but we are not aware of the Lord's Glorious Reply in verses 57 to 62]

We humbly request all lovers of the Brahma Samhita to always include

these five verses + their translations whenever we have occasion to sing or recite this most glorious prayer,

for Lord Krishna has declared in verse 57 that in these 5 verses, Panca Sloki,

He has summarized the whole scientific process of Bhakti Yoga.
