Transient execution CPU vulnerability (filter log) (user filter log)
Description
I used certain CSS property to align links to the right between themselves, but still center the whole group in a table cell. This triggered the Fixed position vandalism (private) filter.
This is needed for full-width layout in which the table is wide. All the other methods do not help, because they cause alignment issues in fixed-width layout (they cause the wrapping link text to stretch the outer <span> which prevents the second link from being centered).
The relevant part is CVE column of BHI and Retbleed rows. I've already posted the rest of my edit, but there was an additional change.
New summary: /* Vulnerabilities and mitigations summary */ BHI & Retbleed: Align CVEs in full-width layout.

What's the point to make it private BTW? Those trying to do this already know how to do this and it can't be bypassed if all possible ways are listed.
And why does it say about "page-defacement attack"? This message is misleading. I thought that defacement is completely replacing a page with another one. If it also does some other checks, it would be better to call it "Page defacement vandalism". But the way it works would still be obvious to those trying to replace a page anyway.
Private – One or more of the filters triggered are private, and the request needs to be evaluated by an edit filter helper or manager. Nobody (talk) 12:29, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Done and a change to the filter may be needed. As far as I can tell this isn't vandalism, and I've implemented the edit. I might suggest in the future, @EvgenKo423:, that you suggest these mass changes on the talk page, and that you simplify the edit summary a bit if possible, but otherwise good work, and thank you for your contributions. Will submit the filter to the noticeboard, I don't see any reason this is private either. --EggRoll97 (talk) 16:38, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Description
In the edit in question, this IP added "allegedly" to a statement that someone had plotted a terrorist attack, changed X to X, and changed a later appearance of "X" to X. Whether the links and "allegedly" belong here is strictly a matter for human judgement, so the filter shouldn't be reporting it as a problem, especially since this caused a bot to report the IP for vandalism.

So it looks like some Twitter account (allegedly belonging to the subject of article) self-tags with (((triple parentheses)))), and a fix to a citation to that account triggered the filter. Frankly, I'm fine with each and every new user who adds triple parentheses at least being looked at at AIV/TB2. In most cases, they're using that "coincidence detector" browser extension, so it's a good red flag to look at their other edits. Excluding references won't work as usual, because that browser extension will still mangle text inside existing references. Suffusion of Yellow (talk) 21:12, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

John Ross (Cherokee chief) (filter log) (user filter log)
Description
I edited the page on John Ross, Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation. I omitted sections that were uncited and romanticized and interpretations of history rejected by specialists in the field. I included citations by vetted historians who specialize Native American and Cherokee History, whose works include footnotes with sources, as opposed to popular histories.
